Introducing the Hardy Banana plant, also known as the Japanese Fiber Banana (Musa basjoo)! We are so excited to offer this tough tropical plant to jazz up your garden oasis. Huge leaves unfurl to create an impressive backdrop in a single season. Also can be planted in a large pots to create shade where it’s needed. Your jungle paradise awaits!

The Hardy Banana plant is hardy Zone 5-10. It can withstand temperatures as low as -10°F (-23°C). The plant can reach heights of 6 to 14 feet tall, showcasing lush, green leaves that can grow up to 3 feet long and 1 foot wide, creating a dense and dramatic foliage display. Protect from wind to keep those leaves looking pretty.

Basic Care: Provide a well-drained soil enriched with organic matter and feed often. Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells, to keep its soil consistently moist (not wet). Also fertilize regularly!

Overwintering plants: Cut down and use leaves/mulch to provide protection from cold temperatures. Uncover as leaves emerge in spring. Potted Bananas can be overwintered as (large) houseplants, or cut back and stored frost free.

Japanese fiber banana is an excellent choice for gardeners eager to transform their zone 5 landscape into a jungly paradise.
